In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise be to Allah who created the heavens and the earth. I ask Him for His Guidance, the Guidance whereby no one who takes refuge in it will ever be led astray. I ask Him for His forgiveness for whatever mistakes and omissions I have already committed.
I bear witness that there is no ilaha except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
Alsalaamu Alaikum,
I am an Economics and Business Student in the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. I am writing to you because I would like to conduct research on the topic of the Islamic Dinar and I will be travelling to Spain/Morocco/Malaysia/South Africa for interviews by the end of the 2011 summer. Can we perhaps schedule a meeting sometime? I am in the process of reading your books and I find them to be very intriguing; as such, I feel as though an interview with you would prove to be of value for the project.
Also, if there are any local Muslim scholars I can be put in touch with, I would really appreciate it.
I myself am Muslim and was raised in Saudi Arabia. However, as a business student in America, I am afraid I have been somewhat brainwashed into thinking that a Western capitalist system is the most efficient way of economic development. This, I have recently come to find, is simply not correct.
I am on a journey to educate myself, and my fellow Muslim and non-Muslim peers about the importance of a currency that is based on the foundational ideas of a gold exchange. I would like to do this by creating a documentary. In order to do this, I would like to interview various Murabitun members.
I would like to travel to Spain and Morocco to conduct this research, but I am flexible on the location as well.
Jazzakumu Allahu Khairan, and may Allah (SWT) bless you for your work and effort.

I am a commerce graduate and partly qualified accountant. I have recently started some research work on paper currency / fiat money. I have presented a questionnaire to some of the renowned scholars and Ulama of Pakistan for their opinion and official statement, in order to establish an agreed view on present days’ money system. This research now grows to address International monetary system, modern banking and finance, and hence becomes a vast subject.
From various sections of Muslim world, there are several rulings and views (past and present) on this subject. On the other hand, there are attempts to introduce alternative gold and silver currency. Some of them for reference:
PAPER MONEY

My effort is to contribute in any way towards a (hopeful) consensus among all sections of Muslim world on the legal status of present day’s paper money. My main emphasis is on demand, as all currency notes formally bear a promise to pay on demand. My idea is to convince people demand collectively. I want support from your respected institution to raise this research work to institutional level in our country. I request you to support this work, and also refer it to other financial research and economic development institutions over the country and abroad.
I will write you in detail, what efforts I have made in my personal capacity.

If you want to know about gold dinar follow the people who are minting and putting in circulation the gold dinar. I live in Lahore now. You are welcome to join our movement to introduce gold Dinar in Pakistan.
As Salam Wa Alaikum Wa Rehmatullah
Dear Umar Vadillo,
I am very much impressed by your work and your idea of Gold Dinar. I want to buy some of the gold dinars and silver dirhams. Hence please let me know where is your centre in Saudi Arabia. I have tried many gold shops here but find only gold coins of unstandard weights of 10 gms or 31 gms or 100 gms. But I couldnt find standard dinars and dirhams of your specification or manufacture. Hence please let me know about your centres in Saudi Arabia, to my email and help.

Dear Umar Vadillo,
My name is Mohd Arif Irfan and I would like to invite you for a forum entitled “Islamic Banking Versus Conventional Banking”. If you are interested, I am asking you with a great pleasure to reply my message via my e-mail, arif_irfan9312@yahoo.com
Thank you for your kindness.
Thank you. I am not interested. For me Islamic banking is worse than conventional banking
Assalamu’alaikum.
What your opinion about this opinion:
http://www.islampolicy.com/p/online-course-registration.html
Syukron.
I believe Islamic banking is haram. It is a trojan horse inside Dar al Islam.
Dear Umar,
Early in the 1990’s I read your 16 page booklet ‘Islam against Economics’ a Murabitum Publication ) PAID, People against interest debt.
Although we have read information on usury all the way through these years, it is this little publication that affected I and a fellow co-op member to cancel our bank accounts at that time. It was enlightening to me to read about usury being defined as rent, and that was a crucial piece of learning for me.
I wish to share this booklet with two people, but do not want to give them my copy.
Could you tell me where they can obtain it from.
or, if it is appropriate will you allow me to scan it into the computer so that I can send them a copy.
what is the position with that? can I copy it to share it on a small level?, perhaps they will go on to widely share it.
I look forward to hearing from you,
best wishes, Frank Bowman.
You will find even better information in this blog. There more contemporary publications that have gone further than the Islam against Economics paper.
Hello Umar,
Have you published your great little booklet on interest debt anywhere on the internet, as I would love to share it with others.
It was a great influence to me in the 90’s and I am sure others would appreciate it now.
It was by you on behalf of PAID, and published by Murabitan.
thank-you, frank.
I do not know how to get hold of that booklet, but I believe that it has been republished and updated by the Muslim Community in Norwich. Write to Ihsan Mosque in Norwhich for assistance
Assalam-o-Alaikum wa Rahmatullah!
I don’t know whether its official page or just fan page of Respected Shaykh Umar Ibrahim Vadilo but this message is intended for him.
Sir only Allah SWT can reward you for the work you are doing in the service of Islam. Inshallah we will be victorious in the end because He is on our side.
Sir i need a favour from you. Although i totally agree with your views about the solution to the financial system of the world but actually i am doing research on applicability of Time multiple counter loan(TMCL) in the banking system as an alternative of interest based loaning. I was introduced to this concept by Mr. Orya Maqbool Jan. This website has all information about this concept.
http://www.realislamicbanking.com/
My question is ” Can TMCL provide an alternative of interest based loaning in banking system?”
What are your views on it?
Jazakallah Khair.
Real Islamic Banking
http://www.realislamicbanking.com
During the past several decades hundreds of valuable books and research papers have been published on the justness and completeness of Islamic economic system and about two hundred Islamic banks have been established and many web sites have been opened for dealing with Islamic fina…
I have only look on the surface of this website, but my first objection is to the name of Islamic Banking. We do not need banks. To islamise the banks to eliminate riba is like trying to islamize the brothels to eliminate prostitution. It does not make sense.
The way forward is to recreate the institutions of muamalat that belong to us. The alternative to banks is Shariah currency, Wadiahs and Wakala. The rest is trying to copy the Kufr in their own sickness.
I believe that Islamic banks are haram, haram, haram. They cannot be reformed, they have to go.
Shaykh Umar Vadillo
Exactly my thoughts. Real or non-real, islamic banking is just another serpent in disguise. Money has no time-value. Full stop.
Salamo Alykoum ,
Dear Mr Vadillo,
I met you at the mosque of SAINT DENIS ( France) this summer, I am a PhD student at the Sorbonne University ( Parisà , and I work on the mechanisms of monetary expansion, I make a comparison between a conventional and Islamic economic system. You advised me to contact you on your blog, because I wish to make a joint PhD, and thank you for putting me in contact with professors who are interested in the idea.
Jazzakum Allah Khayrane.

Assalamu Aliakum Mr. Omar Ibrahim Pasha Vadillo,
I am your great fan. And i am well aware of your research & practical work specially at Kalentine, perak etc…. I congradulate you to bring back the shariah currency once again… May Allah shower his endless blessing upon you and your family.
I am an engineer working in Afghanistan. I along with my colleagues want to revive the dinar & dirham in Afghanistan. I first took the WIM standard of 2010 for dinar which was 22k (917 silver & copper alloy with 50/50) but now the WIM standard of 2012 for dinar which is 990 (almost 24k ) but you did not mention the alloy (percentage & types of metals used). Could you please share it with us so that we could mint our coins with the same WIM standard as one currency for the ommah.
Hopefully you will not ignore it…..
I am happy you want to introduce the Dinar in Afghanistan, we are working with the government of KPK (Pakistan) to introduce it there like we did in Kelantan. The best thing will be to meet. We could meet in Peshawar or in Lahore. What do you say? Can you join Skype and we can talk, my username is Umar Vadillo.
Assalamu Aliakum,
Thanks for your kind reply. And we are extremely glad to hear about the launching of Dinar by KPK govt. As i spent almost 18 years of my life in Peshawar & i got my education in Peshawar & my parents are still living in Peshawar. So there for i can speak Urdu (national language of Pakistan), Pashto (national language of Afghanistan), Persian (national language of Iran & Tajakistan) & english. And we are going to start a project of translating your amazing work , WIM material etc. into the mentioned 3 languages.
I am going to add you in the Skype, and we will meet in Peshawar, INSHALLAH.
